EC BUYER

Executive Condominiums (ECs) are public-private hybrid housing option developed by private developers with support from the Housing & Development Board (HDB). They are designed for households whose income exceeds the eligibility for Build-to-Order (BTO) flats but who may find private condominiums out of reach. ECs come with full condominium facilities, similar to private condos, but are priced more affordably as they are subsidized by HDB.

This makes ECs an attractive option for Singaporeans. However, owners must fulfill a Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) of 5 years before they can sell their ECs on the open market. Buyers must also meet eligibility criteria, including income ceilings and citizenship requirements, similar to those for purchasing a BTO flat.
